The End of YouTube?

November 15, 2009 · Posted in Art · 1 Comment

Last week I made a photo animation "a love story. an afternoon of fun with the camera, an evening of fun with iMovie and upload. simple ... I thought.

uploading was insanely long, and suddenly I got the message says the video could be placed ... copyright issues. fuck! Okay, I have the pictures posted on a number of Barry Louis Polisar ... but hey, I'm not an artist! filmke and I just want to send some fifty friends!

actually there are four types of online video users: artists, commentators, reporters and distributors. almost ninety percent of people are just distributors. they use the content of others to create their own profiles ... to burn. only 1 in 10 is actively engaged with video. in here is again the only artist to complete the creation of the video working. this group really thinks about image, form and sound. the others just make a report or opinion. and of course what they want their video brightening up with the right tunes and images.

This summer, many Belgian artists removed from YouTube due to problems between Youtube and Sabam. in the Netherlands even wanted to Buma / Stemra see money from YouTube and bloggers. Fortunately, the negative criticism that can stop ... for now. Creativity and innovation are often so far in search of education, if we again young people in their free time going to be busy with creation ... how do we as a society than ideas survive in the future? ... With smaller online video systems. I made it video'tje now both on Facebook, DailyMotion and Vimeo (Vimeo is really great). Sabam, try to find me there once again! I do not need YouTube to be creative. I really do not need YouTube.

Thus, "a love story. an afternoon of fun with the camera, an evening of fun with iMovie and upload. simple!
and for those who want to see filmke ... that will come later (after the party, I do not feel like a corey delaney)

Rip the Ripper

My first skateboard ... with a Powell and Perelta course "Ripper" logo. an icon of the eighties and nineties skating (yes, I'm thirty). Meanwhile, the skaters use for over thirty years as a logo, and unfortunately as a copy for many false wannebe skate t-shirts. Rip the ripper "is pretty ripped

the ripper rip sticks his middle finger out. a selection of fifty artists were asked to rip the logo officially. After the opening show in San Diego we can use Lulu to the book, and then sell them on ebay works. check the skateone website for more info.

new beat

a nice report on the Belgian New Beat. New Beat in the eighties very popular, but is concealed or looked down upon by mainstream media. note especially the young Hautekiet - who just make a serious blunder - and the back of Sven Van Hees.

espace Ladda

Thursday I went to the second opening been espace Ladda . an exhibition that is about gathering, of course, only be successful if many people. Well that was successful. and many fine people, free drinks, great location and art ... what more can I say.

gathering, I think a very important aspect of contemporary subcultures. After a period in which individualism was central, and everyone has their own subculture created / formed, we notice now that the group felt it very important. Some talk about tribes, communities, small communities ... in any case they indicate a revaluation of being together. of local street parties, movements chiropractic niche international festivals.

The exhibition then gathering itself:

& friends (Wannes Behaegel, Tom Vanderhulst, Dominiek Colpaert , Mark Plas , Gijs Vanhee, Suleika Van der Jeugdt, Klaas Van der Linden & Sam Vanhoovels), Kathy Vercauteren, Naomi Kerkhove, B recht Vandenbroucke , Traagpaard , Karel Eggermont, Pissara Umavijani (ploi), Ado Jahic, Byra m, works by Kurt Van Houtte , Samuel Vanderveken & friends (Wannes Behaegel, Tom Vander Hulst, Dominiek Colpaert , Mark Lake , Gijs Vanhee Suleika Van der Jeugdt, Klaas van der Linden & Sam Vanhoovels), Kathy Vercauteren, Naomi Kerkhove, B right Vandenbroucke , Slow Horse , Charles Eggermont, Pissara Umavijani (ploi), Ado Jahic, Byra m ... And a selection of video art by Argos (Centre for Art & Media).

Charles is peetjes were brilliant, you had to look well. He has promised regular updates to verstopppen chores at the expo. happy because they disappeared pretty quickly into the pockets of visitors. naomi her drawings are beautiful, but I have to come back to my pace. I am most curious about the emo robot kurt. hopefully hit within a week or two ready.
