kuduro

February 17, 2009 · Posted in music , subculture · Comment

The debut album from Buraka Som Sistema is finally out on the London label Fabric: Black diamond. The 2008 song "Sound of kuduro'met MIA is on course.

kuduro has come over from Angola and Lisbon via the underground in Europe ended. the raw sounds and social / political texts engaged directly come from the slums and have a great party vibe. the crossover of electro with werelduziek seems to work (CSS, Diplo and MIA). hopefully kuduro is now launched.

Tip: Buraka Som Sistema is Saturday, February 28 to Recyclart

Most cute male geek

the sympathetic and always surprising Imke Dielen brings back fun in the Belgian geek scene. who are the cute geeks? everyone can vote . the winner of the contest, a gift rupsig expect.

in some weird way, I also selected, and even bizarre is that I already have a few votes (Thanks Chloe ). Unfortunately I have no chance against the geeks among geeks. the single vote for me may not challenge the 7118 votes for wolfr. how he does it ... no idea but anyway respect! (According to me with the red pants to make)

order not to end in shame, I try without the-nerd-skills to fend me. especially for the ladies to personalize my twitter profile in the hope to be better than the red pants wolfr.

check my twitter account for the photo: http://twitter.com/palmaerts and votes on Palmaerts course ;) !

fixed gear

what the hell! bmx'rs, skaters, bladers ... no, fixed-gear riders.

in the streets of williamsburg (brooklyn) I saw last year with hipsters these bikes for balancing the traffic. I honestly had no idea when that fixies (fixed bikes) were, but it fell on. she bicycles without brakes! fixed bikes are custom bikes can forward and backward steps. I have not tried it yet, but it seems pretty difficult. some tips we find every way here . next new york fixed gear are also popular in san francisco, london and hong kong.

Fixed magazine has its second edition last year online. which is free here to download. nice to read that some young people start to drive. they bring an extreme vibe in the scene, and hopefully like it used to skate the free spirit and prefer extreme sports circus stunts.

and another filmke of the fixed gear crew from London in frankfurt

Carts of Darkness

old year I spent in Vancouver. the so-called dangerous streets were so bad: sympathetic beggars and some interesting shops. we regret that the homeless that filmmaker Murray Siple followed has not met. North Vancouver's community, some people the thrill of the steal exchanged for shopping cart racing. a very interesting documentary about this group of people, beyond poverty, homelessness ... a picture of their everyday life, without stereotypes.

emos vs emus

In Australia the Emus (a giant bird) is impossible to imagine, but the emo ... where are they now? it would really be the fault of My Chemical Romance?
